Later, at the Freehills Office, Sydney, the Governor-General attended the St Francis Social Services Presentation Ceremony and presented the 2011 Freehills Education Scholarships.

On Wednesday 9 February 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted an afternoon tea to mark the 15th Anniversary of the Rural Health Education Foundation.

A service to remember the 2009 Victorian bushfires

On Sunday 5 February 2011, at Federation Square, Melbourne, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a service to remember the 2009 Victorian bushfires.

Earlier, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia by the Head of State of the Kingdom of Tonga, His Majesty King George Tupou V, by Colonel Michael Miller RFD ADC RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Friday 28 January 2011, at the Executive Building, Brisbane, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received a briefing on the flood recovery in Queensland by the Premier, the Honourable Anna Bligh MP.

Afterwards, at Roy Harvey House, the Governor-General received a briefing on the flood recovery in Brisbane by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Campbell Newman.

Later, at Springwood, the Governor-General opened a new building in recognition of the Islamic Women’s Association of Queensland’s 20th anniversary.

On Wednesday 26 January 2011, at the Heritage Village, Rockhampton, Queensland, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Australia Day Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony, at which the Governor-General led the Australian Citizen Oath and Affirmation.

In the afternoon, at the Withcott Hotel, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, attended an Australia Day community gathering.
