Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith VC investiture; Visit to the flood-affected areas of Carnarvon, Western Australia

On Sunday 23 January 2011, at Campbell Barracks, Swanbourne WA, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended an Investiture Ceremony at which the Governor-General invested Corporal Benjamin Roberts-Smith MG with the insignia of the Victoria Cross for Australia, followed by a lunch in honour of Corporal Roberts-Smith VC MG.

Afterwards, at Carnarvon, Western Australia, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce inspected flood damage to local property along the Gascoyne River.

Visit to the flood-affected areas of Horsham, Natimuk, Charlton, Kerang, and Rochester, Victoria

On Friday 21 January 2011, at Horsham, Victoria, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE met with members of the local community affected by the recent floods.

Afterwards, at Natimuk, Victoria, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with members of the Natimuk and Quantong communities affected by the recent flooding.

In the afternoon, at Charlton, Victoria, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce inspected flood damage to local properties and businesses, and visited the Community Relief Centre.

Visit to the flood-affected areas of Brushgrove, Grafton and Boggabilla, New South Wales

On Thursday 20 January 2011, at Brushgrove, New South Wales, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE thanked State Emergency Service volunteers for their contribution during the floods and the ongoing recovery efforts.

Afterwards, at Grafton, New South Wales, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce visited the Community Recovery Centre and met with support workers and members of the local community affected by the recent floods.

Visit to the flood-affected areas of Ipswich and Grantham, Queensland

On Sunday 16 January 2011, at Ipswich, Queensland, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Mayor of Ipswich City Council, Councillor Paul Pisasale, met members of the Ipswich General Hospital where the Governor-General conveyed her admiration of the efforts of health services personnel during the flood crisis.

Visit to the flood-affected towns of Condamine and Chinchilla, Queensland

On Friday 7 January 2011, near Condamine, Queensland, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE visited the cattle-feed lot of Mr Simon and Mrs Kylie Drury to learn about the devastation caused by the recent floods.

Afterwards, in Condamine, Queensland, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Mayor of Western Downs Regional Council, Councillor Ray Brown, met with members of the local community affected by the recent floods and thanked emergency services personnel, local volunteers and support groups involved in the relief efforts.

Visit to the flood-affected towns of Alpha, Jericho and Emerald, Queensland

On Thursday 6 January 2011, at Alpha, Queensland, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Mayor of Barcaldine Regional Council, Councillor Rob Chandler, inspected flood damage to local infrastructure and met with members of the local community affected by recent floods and thanked emergency services personnel, local volunteers and support groups involved in the relief efforts.

In the afternoon, in Jericho, Queensland, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Nurse, Ms Jane Williams, visited the Spiritus Bush Nursing Clinic.
