On Wednesday 23 February 2011, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received the High Commissioner for Kenya, His Excellency Mr Stephen Kipkiyeny Tarus.

Earlier, in Singapore, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE visited the Australian International School.

Official visit to Kuwait; ???Hot Potato Shop' lunch meeting

On Tuesday 22 February 2011, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE departed Australia on an Official Visit to Kuwait.

Earlier, in Sydney, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.

Afterwards, at St Ignatius College, Riverview, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE attended the ‘Hot Potato Shop’ lunch meeting.

On Monday 21 February 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as Patron, received the Directors and Board Members of HeartKids Australia.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, received Directors and Board Members of HeartKids Australia.

Later, the Governor-General issued the Affirmation of Office to the Parliamentary Secretary for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, Senator the Honourable Kate Lundy.

150th Maitland Show; Canberra Symphony Orchestra 2011 Prom Concert; CA Technology Brumbies

On Saturday 19 February 2011, at Maitland, New South Wales, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the 150th Maitland Show.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the Canberra Symphony Orchestra 2011 ‘Hungarian Rhapsody’ Prom Concert.

In the evening, at Bruce Stadium, Canberra, Mr Bryce, as Patron, attended the CA Technology Brumbies versus Chiefs match.

???Book of Life' and Donate Life Week; Snowy Hydro SouthCare Awareness Week

On Friday 18 February 2011, at the National Library of Australia, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as inaugural Ambassador of Donate Life, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General launched the ‘Book of Life’ and Donate Life Week.

In the afternoon, at the Snowy Hydro SouthCare Base, Symonston, the Governor-General, as Chief Ambassador, and Mr Bryce attended a reception in support of Snowy Hydro SouthCare Awareness Week.

Credentials Ceremonies

On Thursday 17 February 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received from His Excellency Mr Khaled Al-Shaibani, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Anas Al-Shaheen (Second-Secretary). The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE also received Mrs Nada Al-Essa.

On Tuesday 15 February 2011, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received Ms Gail O’Brien, Mr Michael Boyer AM, Mr Brent Cubis, Mr Andrew Forrest, Mr David Kennedy and Mr James Packer.

Afterwards, in Toorak, Victoria, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE met with former Governor-General, the Right Honourable Sir Zelman Cowen AK GCMG GCVO QC, and Lady Cowen.

Leukaemia Foundation National Research Program Grant Recipients; 10th anniversary of the International Year of the Volunteer

On Monday 14 February 2011, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, the Right Reverend David Jones and Mrs Ruth Jones.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Sex Discrimination Commissioner and Commissioner Responsible for Age Discrimination, Ms Elizabeth Broderick.

Later, the Governor-General as Patron of the Leukaemia Foundation, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted an afternoon tea for the announcement of the National Research Program Grant Recipients.

The Great Synagogue Annual Law Service and dinner

On Friday 11 February 2011, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Managing Director of the Australian School of Performing Arts, Ms Nichole Muir.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Professor of Epidemiology at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine, Oxford University, Professor Valerie Beral AC DBE.

Later, the Governor-General received the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of New South Wales, Scientia Professor Veena Sahajwalla.
