On Monday 5 May 2008, at Holsworthy Barracks, NSW, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, was represented by the Chief of the Australian Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston AC AFC, at the Unit Memorial Service for Lance Corporal Jason Marks.

On Saturday 26 April 2008, in the United Arab Emirates, at the Residence of the Australian Ambassador, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffrey AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffrey, as guests of honour, attended an official dinner hosted by the Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mr Jeremy Bruer and Mrs Catherine Bruer.

Earlier, in Abu Dhabi, Mrs Jeffery toured the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Emirates Palace, before viewing the Saadiyat Island development and the Masdar City project model.
