Morning tea for Women's Services; Meeting with the Chief Minister of Sabah and Minister of Finance

On Monday 16 August 2010, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, hosted a morning tea for a representative group of Women’s Services in honour of women who served during World War II.

Earlier, at Sandakan International Airport, Malaysia, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC met with the Chief Minister of Sabah and Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman.

On Sunday 15 August 2010, at The Cenotaph, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE attended a Victory in the Pacific Day Commemoration Service at which the Administrator laid a wreath.

Official Visit to Sandakan, Malaysia

On Saturday 14 August 2010, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE departed Australia on an Official Visit to Sandakan, Malaysia.

Earlier, in Sydney, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.

In the evening, at Sabah Hotel, Sandakan, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with former Sandakan Prisoners of War.

Executive Council

On Friday 13 August 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, at Albert Hall, Launceston, the Governor-General was represented at the State Funeral for the late the Honourable Sue Napier, former Deputy Premier of Tasmania, by Colonel Stephen Carey ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

Dinner hosted by the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

On Thursday 12 August 2010, at Westminster House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a dinner hosted in their honour by the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Baroness Valerie Amos.

COMCAR ???Going the Extra Mile' book launch; Ceremony for the Australian Export Heroes Awards

On Wednesday 11 August 2010, in Fyshwick, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General launched the book ‘Going the Extra Mile’ in recognition of the centenary of the Commonwealth Car service.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received Sex Discrimination Commissioner and Commissioner responsible for Age Discrimination, Ms Elizabeth Broderick.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a ceremony for the Australian Export Heroes Awards.

Governor-General's Indigenous Student Teacher Scholarship

On Monday 9 August 2010, at the Stamford Plaza, Brisbane, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the President of Youth Without Borders, Ms Yassmin Abdel-Magied.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, in recognition of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People, hosted a presentation ceremony and afternoon tea for recipients of the Governor-General’s Indigenous Student Teacher Scholarships.

Toowoomba Languages and Cultures Festival; Eastwood Early Education Centre; Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival

On Sunday 8 August 2010, at Queens Park, Toowoomba, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the President of the Toowoomba International Multicultural Society, Ms Gitie House, attended the Toowoomba Languages and Cultures Festival, at which the Governor-General delivered the opening address.

Afterwards, at the Eastwood Early Education Centre, Toowoomba, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Director, Ms Katy Mason, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the centre.

Australian Women Lawyers Conference; Youngcare dinner

On Saturday 7 August 2010, at the Stamford Plaza, Brisbane, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC attended the Australian Women Lawyers’ Conference and officially launched the book ‘Women and the Law in Australia’.

In the evening, at Montrachet Restaurant, Brisbane, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chair, Mr David Conry, attended a Youngcare supporters’ dinner.
