On Friday 12 October 2007, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery returned to Australia at the completion of an official visit to The Kingdom of Belgium, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Earlier, the Governor-General sent a message of condolence and sympathy to the widow of Trooper David Pearce tragically killed while on active duty in Afghanistan.
