On Friday 12 October 2007, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery returned to Australia at the completion of an official visit to The Kingdom of Belgium, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Earlier, the Governor-General sent a message of condolence and sympathy to the widow of Trooper David Pearce tragically killed while on active duty in Afghanistan.

On Wednesday 10 October 2007, at Banjo Paterson Park, Ryde, Sydney, the Administrator Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO as Patron of Aftercare, officially opened the Centenary Celebrations of Aftercare 1907 -2007: Emily's Party, one woman's vision that changed thousands of lives.

On Monday 8 October 2007, at Macquarie Street Offices, Sydney, the Administrator Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO hosted to lunch Professor Beverley Raphael AM, Professor of Population Mental Health and Disasters; and Director of the Centre for Disasters and Terrorism, at the University of Western Sydney.

In the evening, at the Sydney Opera House, the Administrator, as the guest of honour of Opera Australia, attended the Opening Night of Wagner's Tannhauser.

On Sunday 7 October 2007, the Government House, Canberra and the grounds were open to members of the public to attend a fundraising Open Day for the Australiana Fund.

On Saturday 6 October 2007, at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Administrator Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, as the guest of honour, attended a performance by the Early Music Ensemble as part of the Conductors' Series.

On Friday 5 October 2007, at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, Sydney, the Administrator Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO opened the Judicial Conference of Australia 2007 Colloquium.

Later, at Jupiters Townsville, Queensland, the Administrator officially opened the 75th??National Conference of Legacy Clubs of Australia: The Changing Face of Legacy, and afterwards attended a Civic Reception hosted by the Mayor of the City of Townsville Councillor Tony Mooney. In The Kingdom of Belgium, Zonnebeke, West Flanders Province, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery laid a wreath at a New Zealand Commemorative Ceremony at 's Gravenstafel.

On Tuesday 2 October 2007, in Brussels, Belgium, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended a ceremony and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as guests of honour, attended a luncheon hosted by the President of the Senate, Mr Armand De Decker.
