On Tuesday 6 November 2007, at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne, Victoria, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as guests of the Chairman and Committee of the Victoria Racing Club, attended the 2007 Emirates Melbourne Cup Carnival, at which the Governor-General presented the Emirates Melbourne Cup to the winning owner.

On Monday 5 November 2007, at Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, attended the 2007 Finals Concert of the Australian Singing Competition, at which the Governor-General presented both the Mathy and Foster Awards.

On Friday, 2 November 2007, at the Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth, Western Australia, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, as Honorary Colonel of the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR), attended the military funeral of the late Sergeant Matthew Locke MG, SASR.

On Wednesday 31 October 2007, at Woden, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC officially opened the new IP Australia building.

In the evening, at the Royal Military College of Australia, Duntroon, Canberra, the Governor-General attended the Chief of Army's History Conference Dinner '1917: Tactics, Training and Technology'.

On Monday, 29 October 2007, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, on behalf of the people and Government of Australia, sent messages of condolence and sympathy to the widow, family and comrades of Sergeant Matthew Locke MG, tragically killed while on active duty in Afghanistan.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, visited the 1st Health Support Battalion.
