Visit to Saudi Arabia following the passing of King Abdullah

On Tuesday 27 January 2015, at the Australian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with the Governor-General of Canada, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston CC CMM COM CD.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as guest of the Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mr Neil Hawkins, attended a morning tea with representatives of the Australian community living in Riyadh.

On Monday 26 January 2015, at the Australian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received a briefing by the Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mr Neil Hawkins.

Afterwards, the Governor-General attended a lunch hosted in his honour by the Australian Ambassador with Saudi business representatives and members of the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia.

Visit to Saudi Arabia following the passing of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz

In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Governor-General, pictured with the Governors-General of Canada and New Zealand, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston and Lieutenant General the Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae, respectively, conveyed the condolences of the government and people of Australia to the Royal Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following the death of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Australia Celebrates event; Proclamation

On Sunday 25 January 2015, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), delivered the first key address in a tribute to the centenary of ANZAC at the Australia Celebrates event.

Afterwards, following the departure from Australia of the Governor-General, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of Victoria, His Excellency the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC.
