National Commemoration Ceremony; Pacific Nations Military Cup

On Saturday 23 October 2010, at the Australian National Korean War Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a National Commemoration Service marking the 60th anniversary of the commencement of the Korean War, at which the Governor-General laid a wreath.

In the afternoon, at Viking Park, Wanniassa, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the final of the 2010 Pacific Nations Military Cup at which the Governor-General presented the Cup to the winning team’s captain.

Newcastle Museum; Anglican Care Scenic Lodge Merewether; East Lake Macquarie Dementia Services; Leapfrog; Dinner for the King of Tonga

On Friday 22 October 2010, at the Newcastle Museum, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor John Tate, attended a reception at which the Governor-General unveiled ‘the Buck’.

Afterwards, at Merewether, Newcastle, the Governor-General officially opened Anglican Care’s new residential aged care facility ‘Anglican Care Scenic Lodge Merewether’.

Later, at the Belmont Hospital, the Governor-General officially opened East Lake Macquarie Dementia Service’s new respite facility.

Macquarie University Hospital; ???Seasons in my House and Garden' book launch; Arthritis Australia

On Thursday 21 October 2010, at Macquarie University, North Ryde, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as guest of the Vice-Chancellor and President of Macquarie University, Mr Steven Schwartz, visited the new Macquarie University Hospital.

In the afternoon, at the Mint, Sydney, the Governor-General launched Ms Holly Kerr Forsyth’s book ‘Seasons in my House and Garden’.

Building Literate Nations National Forum

On Tuesday 19 October 2010, at the University of Technology Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as guest of the Director of the Australian Centre for Child and Youth: Culture and Wellbeing, Professor Rosemary Johnston, officially opened the Building Literate Nations National Forum.

Later, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, as Patron, received the Founding Director of Youth Insearch, Mr Ron Barr AM, and Mrs Judith Barr.

2010 Australasian Sexual Health Conference; Sydney Youth Orchestras

On Monday 18 October 2010, at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC delivered the opening address at the 2010 Australasian Sexual Health Conference.

Later, the Governor-General, as Patron, received the President and members of the National Federation of Australia-Japan Societies, Mr Leigh McClintock, Mr Adrian Ahern, Mr David Jacobs, Mr Tony Mooney and Mr Bronwyn Wood.

Art from Your Heart

On Saturday 16 October 2010, at Grant Thornton House, Brisbane, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended Australia's CEO Challenge's ‘Art from Your Heart’ event, at which the Governor-General delivered the opening address.

World Wildlife Fund Australia; The Australian Singing Competition Finals Concert

On Friday 15 October 2010, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as Patron, hosted a morning tea and Planning Committee meeting for the World Wildlife Fund Australia.

In the evening, at the Sydney Opera House, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended The Australian Singing Competition Finals Concert, at which the Governor-General presented the Marianne Mathy Scholarship.

Federal Executive Council; the Sax Institute

On Thursday 14 October 2010, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Project Director for the Blacktown Business Energy Efficiency Program, Ms Louise Kelly.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received Associate Professor for Indigenous Education at the Australian Catholic University, Dr Nerida Blair.

In the evening, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a reception for the Sax Institute.

Reception for the Pathways Foundation

On Wednesday 13 October 2010, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as Patron, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a reception for volunteers and supporters of the Pathways Foundation.

Earlier, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Vanuatu, His Excellency Mr Iolu Johnson Abbil, by Captain Jay Bannister ADC RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
