On Saturday 16 May 2009, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Marcus Stephen MP, by Colonel Dennis Scanlan CSM RFD ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
On Friday 15 May 2009, at Burwood, NSW, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as guest of the Principal, Mrs Barbara Stone AM, officially opened the new MLC Junior School.

In the afternoon, in Sydney, the Governor-General, as guest of the Executive Director of the Lowy Institute, Mr Allan Gyngell, attended a conference co-hosted by the Lowy Institute's Myer Foundation Melanesia Program and Care Australia on Tackling Extreme Poverty in Papua New Guinea.
On Wednesday 13 May 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Manager of Macquarie Bank Foundation, Ms Julie White. Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador and Permanent Representative-designate to the United Nations New York, Mr Gary Quinlan. In the afternoon, the Governor General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a reception in recognition of National Volunteer Week.
