Afterwards, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Melbourne, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the launch of the Australian Practice Nurses Association 2009 Inaugural National Conference, at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address. Later, at the University of Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the new Sydney Law School Building.

On Wednesday 29 April 2009 at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted an Investiture Ceremony at which the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested Mrs Faith Bandler AC with the insignia of a Companion of the Order of Australia.

Afterwards, at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the launch of the Salvation Army's 2009 Red Shield Appeal luncheon at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, The Right Honourable Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare GCL GCMG CH CF KStJ MP. The Prime Minister was accompanied by: the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Immigration, the Honourable Sam Abal MP; the High Commissioner for Papua New Guinea to Australia, His Excellency Mr Charles Lepani; and the Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, Mr Chris Moraitis. In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the Chief Executive Officer of Life Education Australia, Mr Jay Bacik.

On Saturday 25 April 2009 at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the ANZAC Day Dawn Service.

On Thursday 23 April 2009 at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received from His Excellency Mr Khalid Bin Hashil Bin Mohammed Al-Muslahi, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Hamed Al-Hajri (Consul-General) from the Consulate-General of the Sultanate of Oman in Melbourne.

On Wednesday 22 April 2009 at Government House, Melbourne, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received the Premier of Victoria, the Honourable John Brumby MP and Ms Rosemary McKenzie.

On Tuesday 21 April 2009 at Warrnambool, Victoria, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the Brophy ???Family and Youth' Services Complex.

On Monday 20 April 2009, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC sent the following message to Her Majesty the Queen: 'Michael and I join with the Australian people in extending to Your Majesty our best wishes and loyal and affectionate greetings for your birthday.'

Afterwards, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received Dr Margaret Valadian AO. Later, at the State Library of New South Wales, the Governor-General, as Guest of Honour, attended the annual ???Q?? Lunch.
