On Sunday 17 February 2008 at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the Order of Australia Association National Conference Multifaith Observance at which the Governor-General as Chancellor and Patron read the First Lesson.

On Saturday 16 February 2008, in the Bravery Garden, Government House, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended a Service of Remembrance for the Australian Bravery Association at which the Governor-General delivered an address, and together with Mrs Jeffery laid flowers.

On Friday 15 February 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, received the Australian Ambassador-designate to the Hellenic Republic, Mr Jeremy Newman.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery hosted a reception for members attending the Order of Australia Association National Conference 2008 at which the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia and Patron of the Association delivered the key note address.

On Thursday 14 February 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Chief Ambassador, hosted a reception for the Snowy Hydro SouthCare Aero-medical and Rescue Helicopter Service to celebrate 10 years of service to the community.

On Wednesday 13 February 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Official Secretary to the Governor-General, Mr Malcolm Hazell CVO, on behalf of Their Excellencies the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, hosted a morning tea for partners of Members of the Parliament of Australia, and partners of the Foreign Diplomatic Heads of Mission.

On Tuesday 12 February 2008, at St Christopher's Cathedral, Manuka, ACT, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC read the first lesson at the Ecumenical service of Worship to commemorate the Opening of the Forty-Second Commonwealth Parliament.

Afterwards, at Parliament House Canberra, the Governor-General officially opened the First Session of the Forty-Second Commonwealth Parliament.

Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted to luncheon the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn, The Right Reverend George Browning and Mrs??Margaret Browning.

On Saturday 9 February 2008, at The Strand, Townsville, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, laid a wreath at the Royal Australian Regiment Association (QLD Division) 60th Anniversary Parade and Memorial Service. Afterwards, the Governor-General attended a morning tea hosted by the President, Mr Rod McLean AM, and members of the Townsville Returned and Services League.
