Broome, WA

On Monday 1 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, met with staff and students at the University of Notre Dame’s Broome campus, as guests of Ms Sarah Cordiner, Head of Campus.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies met with organisers and members of ‘Kimberley Girl’, and viewed operations at Goolarri Media, as guests of Ms Kira Fong, Chief Operations Officer.

Christmas Island

On Sunday 30 September 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited the ship’s company of HMAS Ararat, as guests of Lieutenant Commander Khan Beaumont RAN, at Flying Fish Cove, Christmas Island.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies viewed wildlife at the Margaret Knoll lookout and attended a community sports day and sausage sizzle at the Christmas Island Cricket and Sporting Club as guests of Her Honour Mrs Natasha Griggs, Administrator, Australian Indian Ocean Territories.

Christmas Island

On Saturday 29 September 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, were welcomed to Christmas Island by Her Honour Mrs Natasha Griggs, Administrator of the Australian Indian Ocean Territories, at Christmas Island Airport. There, the Governor-General assisted in the unveiling of the plaque renaming the airport to the Gordon Bennett Airport.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies attended a dinner with community and business leaders at the Administrator’s residence.

Canberra, ACT

On Friday 28 September 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Then, the Governor-General received the interim report of the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry, from the Commissioner, the Honourable Kenneth Hayne AC QC.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Lebanese Republic for a pre-posting call.

Canberra, ACT; Sydney, NSW

On Thursday 27 September 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr Tim Kane, Ambassador-designate to the Federative Republic of Brazil for a pre-posting call.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the Australian Public Service Secretaries Board, at Admiralty House.

Canberra, ACT

On Wednesday 26 September 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with students from Trinity College, SA; John the Baptist Catholic School, SA; Guildford Grammar School, WA; and Launceston Church Grammar School, TAS, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Tuesday 25 September 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Major General Mark Kelly AO DSC, Chair, Royal Australian Regiment (RAR) Foundation, and Mr John Walters, Director, RAR Foundation.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received His Excellency Paulo Cunha-Alves, Ambassador, Portuguese Republic. Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the Australian National University’s Tuckwell Scholars.

Sydney, NSW

On Monday 24 September 2018, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a reception for the World Rugby Executive Committee.

Darwin, NT

On Friday 21 September 2018, at Larrakeyah Defence Precinct, Darwin, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, received a briefing on the Regional Force Surveillance Group (RFSG) and North West Regional Force (NORFORCE), and met with Australian Defence Force personnel, as guests of Colonel John Papalitsas CSC, Commander, and Lieutenant Kate Woodall, Executive Officer, HMAS Coonawarra.

Berry Springs; Humpty Doo; Darwin, NT

On Thursday 20 September 2018, at Berry Springs Primary School, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mrs Carlie Mamo, A/g Principal, met with students and teachers, and were briefed on the efforts of the school to raise awareness of the endangered Atlas moth.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies visited the Territory Wildlife Park, as guests of Ms Shael Martin, Director, were briefed on current conservation projects and viewed the facilities.
