On Friday 9 September 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Co-chairs of the National Congress of Australia’s First People, Ms Jody Broun and Mr Les Malezer.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students from Ilfracombe State School.

Later, the Governor-General, as Chief Scout hosted a reception for the National Youth Council of Scouts Australia.

On Wednesday 7 September 2011, at the Great Hall, Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the launch of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation’s Indigenous Literacy Day, at which the Governor-General delivered an address.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General attended an afternoon tea with the Council for the Order of Australia, and as Chancellor, cut a cake in recognition of the 75th meeting of the Council.

On Monday 5 September 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received PhD student, Ms Freda Talao, from the T.C. Beirne School of Law at the University of Queensland.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Australian Ambassador to the European Union, the Honourable Dr Brendan Nelson.

Later, the Governor-General received the President of the European Commission His Excellency Mr José Manuel Barroso.

On Sunday 4 September 2011, at the Logan Central Multicultural Community Church, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a church service in support of the families of the victims of the recent Slacks Creek home fire and wider Tongan and Samoan communities, at which the Governor-General delivered the First Reading.

On Saturday 3 September 2011, at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre, Gatton, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Mayor of Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Councillor Steve Jones, attended the Australian National Flag Day 2011 Ceremony at which the Governor-General gave an address and unveiled the Australian National Flag found recovered from the January floods.
