On Saturday 6 August 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a lunch for the Ambassador of the United States of America, His Excellency Mr Jeffrey Bleich and Mrs Rebecca Bleich. The Ambassador and Mrs Bleich were accompanied by: Jake, Matthew and Abby Bleich.

Earlier, at Malkara School, Garran, Mr Bryce, as Patron, visited the 39th Annual Malkara Model Railway and Scale Model Exhibition.

On Friday 5 August 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Dr Woo Sang Kim.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a reception for the Australian Ambassador-designate to the People’s Republic of China, Ms Frances Adamson.

On Wednesday 3 August 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a reception to launch YouthCARECanberra as part of National Homeless Persons Week.

In the evening, at the Canberra Theatre Centre, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chair of the Bell Shakespeare Company, Ms Ilana Atlas, attended the Opening Night of ‘Julius Caesar’, performed by Bell Shakespeare.

On Sunday 31 July 2011, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE departed Australia on a State Visit to the Kingdom of Tonga.

Earlier, in Sydney, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.

In the evening, at the Royal Villa, Nuku’alofa, Kingdom of Tonga, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended an audience with the King of Tonga, His Majesty King George Tupou V.

On Thursday 28 July 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Dr Milan Balazic, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia. The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE also received Mrs Nina Krajnik.

On Wednesday 27 July 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland, His Excellency Mr Mairtin O’Fainin.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted to lunch the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, Professor Andrew Hamilton, and Mrs Jennifer Hamilton; the Warden of Rhodes House, University of Oxford, Professor Don Markwell; and the Head of Development for Student Support, University of Oxford, Mr Benjamin Plummer-Powell.

On Tuesday 26 July 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received Mary MacKillop Foundation member and ambassador for the Travelling Sisters Roadshow – Australian Disaster Recovery, Sister Julianne Murphy.

Later, at R.B. Community Centre in Queanbeyan, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a reception at which the Governor-General, as Patron, officially launched the Cerebral Palsy Australia website.
