Vietnam Veterans' Remembrance Day Service; 45th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan and the presentation of the Unit Citation for Gallantry to Delta Company, 6 Royal Australian Regiment

On Thursday 18 August 2011, at the Australian Vietnam Forces National Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended the Vietnam Veterans’ Remembrance Day Service, at which the Governor-General delivered the first reading and laid a wreath.

On Wednesday 17 August 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Awards Ceremony, at which the Governor-General presented awards.

Later, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister, the Honourable Julia Gillard MP.

On Tuesday 16 August 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Algerian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva, His Excellency Idriss Jazairy.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chief of the Air Force, Air Marshal Geoff Brown AM.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a reception for the overseas course members from the Australian Defence College.

On Monday 15 August 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Chief of Army, Lieutenant General David Morrison AO.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a lunch in honour of Artist, Mr Peter Churcher. Other guests included: Ms Elizabeth Brenchley and Mr Julian Brenchley; Mr Roy Churcher and Mrs Betty Churcher AO; Dr Graeme Killer AO and Mrs Jan Killer; and Dr Ron Radford AM.

On Friday 12 August 2011, at the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland Showgrounds, Brisbane, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Honorary Life Members, attended the official opening and dinner of the 2011 Royal Queensland Show, at which the Governor-General delivered the opening address.
