Townsville, QLD

On Saturday 23 February 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, travelled to Townsville, Queensland, to meet with organisations and individuals involved in response and recovery efforts following the major flooding earlier in the month.

As guests of Wing Commander Mathew Green, Senior ADF Officer, RAAF Base Townsville, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove visited ADF personnel and their families from RAAF Base Townsville and the 5th Aviation Regiment, at RAAF Base Townsville.

Sydney, NSW

On Friday 22 February 2019 the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), hosted an afternoon tea to recognise the 50th Anniversary for the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife, and the retirement of the Foundation’s Chairman, Mr Garry Browne AM, at Admiralty House, Sydney.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Sydney Dance Company.

Canberra, ACT

On Thursday 21 February 2019 the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received His Excellency Mr Caesar Lekoa, High Commissioner for Botswana, for a farewell call at Government House, Canberra.

Later, the Governor General, as guest of Commodore Pete Leavy CSM RAN, Commandant, addressed Trainee Officers at the Australian Defence Force Academy.

Hobart, TAS; Canberra, ACT

On Wednesday 20 February 2019 the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Chief Officer Chris Arnol, Tasmanian Fire Service, met with staff and received a brief on the Tasmanian bushfires, at the Tasmanian Fire Service Headquarters, Hobart.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Councillor Bec Enders, Mayor, Huon Valley Council, met with volunteers and community members involved in bushfire response and recovery efforts at the Geeveston Town Hall.

On Tuesday 19 February 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Professor Anthony Koutoulis, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, visited the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, at the University of Tasmania’s Sandy Bay campus, in Hobart.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with Her Excellency Professor The Honourable Kate Warner AC, and Mr Richard Warner, at Government House.

Tarago, NSW

On Sunday 17 February 2019 the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Keith Hunter, President, Tarago Men’s Shed, attended the official opening of the Tarago Men’s Shed, in Tarago, NSW.

Launceston, TAS

On Monday 18 February 2019 in Launceston, Tasmania, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Marcus Allan, Vice Chairman, Tasmania Headstone Project, visited the Carr Villa Memorial Park.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Ms Vicki Mackrill, Principal, visited Launceston College. Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a lunch for Order of Australia recipients.

On Friday 15 February 2019 the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as a guest of Mr Mike Burgess, Director-General, Australian Signals Directorate, visited the Australian Signals Directorate and the Defence Signals Intelligence and Cyber Command, at Russell Offices, Canberra.

On Thursday 14 February 2019 the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a morning tea for the graduates of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Indigenous Australian Graduate Development Program, at Government House, Canberra.

In the evening, the Governor-General, and Lady Cosgrove hosted a dinner for Her Excellency Dame Annette King, High Commissioner for New Zealand, and Mr Ray Lind.

On Wednesday 13 February 2019 the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove as guests of Mr David O’Leary, President, Gift of Life Incorporated, attended the annual DonateLife Walk, at Regatta Point, Canberra.
