On Tuesday 5 July 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Dr Megan Clark.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Dr Amaah Jayhoon.

On Monday 4 July 2011, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General administered the oath or affirmation of allegiance to Senators elected to serve in the Senate from 1 July 2011.

In the afternoon, at Government House, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, received the incoming Chief of the Australian Defence Force, General David Hurley AC DSC.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Australian High Commissioner to India, Mr Peter Varghese AO.

Departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru

On Sunday 3 July 2011, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Marcus Stephen MP, by Brigadier Christopher Hamilton ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Saturday 2 July 2011, at Aberdeen, New South Wales, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Chieftain, officially opened the 12th Aberdeen Highland Games.

In the evening, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Marcus Stephen MP, by Group Captain Guy Burton ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as an Honorary Member of Zonta International, received the President of the Zonta Club of Sydney, Ms Carol Limmer.

Later, the Governor-General received for lunch, the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.
